Current players only?
What is the reasoning behind people only wanting current players only? Its alot easier just to pull out everyone in XXXX jersey and trade them, rather than having to try and get the current ones.
And when they get traded from the team, and are no longer current, do y'all trade them?

The reason I am is I wanted to start collecting someone who's career is just starting since I wouldn't have go through a few years of cards to get a collection. Kind of a bad explanation. It's just easier I think to find current players since everyone is opening the current year's cards. I just didn't want to try and collect someone who's been in the league for years since it'd be harder to collect more cards.

I coolect guys in raiders Uniform only. I also dont get the current player search with the way tradeing and free agents are players are alot of times only on teams for 1 years befor getting shipped out. but i agree makes no sense

Like you, I collect all Broncos. Personally, I find it easier to find past players since a lot of people don't want their cards anymore.

I colect Jets players. I ONLY collect current Jets players in Jets uniforms. I think that it has to do with, "I dont want someone else's star in my collection." I will only get Kevin Barlow cards (autos and jerseys) from when he is in a Jets jersey! It is just a team thing I guess!

Me? It's a team thing. I only want current players, and only specific ones. I want players that (to me) symbolize the team in question. If they trade one of the players....then yeah, I wish the guy well, but I don't want his cards after that.
In my case, I love the Astros and Texans. I loved watching Willy Taveras and Jason Hirsh....and I hate that they traded them. So, their cards are out of the collection. Biggio, Berkman, Bagwell...they symbolize the Astros to me, with the young guys possibly the next generation :)

good thread....im picky about my skins, but it is more player specific and has nothing to do with "current" players....i have over 5,000 skins cards so i really dont need anymore stuff from the 90s....would rather work on older stuff i dont have, or some newer rookie stuff
those of you who only collect current stuff didn't answer chevy's question though....when a guy gets traded to another team, do you then get rid of his cards?? that would leave a very minimal collection!! that is the reason that just collecting "current" players is confusing to some.

If for some reason Jones-Drew got traded I would continue to collect his stuff as I like him as a player. Granted I like the Jags too, but it's more about the player than the team for me.

I collect Current Steelers only because every summer, I go up to their training camp a few times and get some cards signed. And I am really a fan of the team, I watch every game, have gone to a few and am a huge follower, I like to collect who I watch every week, not a guy like Kordell Stewart who is probably bagging groceries somewhere.
