Hello! I am new and I have a question!

First I have to say sorry for my bad english... Please correct me, so I can develope my poor basics!

I am from Germany, me and my wife love Baseball and Football (both are not so popular here) and we love sports cards (also not very popular - its a shame).

So I want to say HELLO to you all!

And I have a small question:
What are Wax Boxes? Is that a different type of packing (or wrapping?) the boxes?

    Thank you for answers!

    Greetings
    Marc

    Hello Ray!

I collect Baseball and Football cards. All brands, but I like Upperdeck most.

My favourites are the Baltimore Orioles, the Washington Redskins and the Michigan State Spartans. My wife supports the Green Bay Packers and the LA Dodgers.

I like all types of cards, but especially old-styled cards and good photos. I dont like modern styled cards.

My collection is small and not very expensive (I started collecting about too years ago).

    Greetings
    Marc

    Thank you!

Do I have to write: My favourite are OR My favorite is ?

Or do I have to write: My favourite teams are ?

    EDIT:

OK, I got it... The color/colour example is the same like favourite/favorite. British and American English...

Hi Marc! Welcome to SCF! like raym said, wax boxes are just unopened boxes of sportscard packs. The term "wax box" is derived from "wax pack". Up until the late 80's, packs were wrapped by the factory using wax paper. But dishonest people would sometimes open these wax packs, take out the most desireable cards, reseal and resell the wax packs. So the card manufacturers changed the wrapper to a more tamper-resistant material. It has somewhat reduced the instances of pack re-sealing but hasn't completely eliminated it.

On another note, as you may be finding out already, there's lots of great things that SCF offers. If you have questions about SCF's CardCash store, cardcash, forum rules, sig banner size limits, trading guidelines or if you have any other questions about SCF, you'll probably find the answers here in SCF's Info 2 Know. It will point you to in the right direction to lots of valuable SCF information. Another link you might find useful is the SCF Map Guide. And if those don't have the answer, feel free to PM (private message) me or any of the SCF staff.

I also gotta give a special welcome to your wife (a fellow Dodgers fan ). Enjoy and happy trading!!

    Andy

    Hi Marc,

    Welcome aboard!
Are you born in Germany? I was born in the Netherlands, lived there for 35 years until I moved to the USA 4 years ago. I lived in Enschede, just across the border from Gronau / Epe in Germany.
    Still have friends there!
I know how hard it is to get packs of cards! I had to go to Amsterdam to the USA Bookstore to get some overpriced and 2 year old cards! LOL

Hopefully we can talk more later! (Am at work right now) LOL

    Hello Andy!

Thank you very much for your reply! I hesitated a long time about writing in an american sports cards forum, but I have so much questions.

The SCF is a huge sports cards portal and has so much information! GREAT!

When I buy Wax Boxes in a big american online store I can be sure they are unsearched? Am I right?
