Bob Gladney had his career ended by an eye injury, Started the 83-84 season with the Pens got sent down to Baltimore where he suffered the injury.

Bernie Parent had his career end by eye injury. Stick went through the mask, one of the main reasons Goalies switched to bird cages was for better eye protection.

Carl Hagelin had to retire because of his eye injury and that accidental stick injury happened in practice.

That is just three and it covers multiple different ways players got hurt. So many near misses, and most current eye injuries in the League are because the players wear their visors too high up.

Cut resistant neck & wrist protection is coming, it will happen. The League cannot mandate it, but when they do negotiate with the PA it will eventually get adopted. Insurance companies may also up premiums for players based on what happened to Johnson. If that happens the league will use it in negotiations by having the players take on that portion of insurance if they don’t agree to neck and wrist protection.

Visors are stupid. I don't know anyone whose career ended from not wearing a visor. Visors should be optional

They ain't getting that genie back in the bottle.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ot...ers-death.html

A statement said: 'Detectives have today (Tuesday November 14) arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter. He remains in police custody at this time.

'On Saturday 28 October, Adam, aged 29, was seriously injured during a game between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers and was sadly later pronounced deceased in hospital. A post-mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a fatal neck injury.'

Detective Chief Superintendent Becs Horsfall added that the police had made 'extensive enquiries' in the wake of the tragedy.

'Our investigation launched immediately following this tragedy and we have been carrying out extensive enquiries ever since to piece together the events which led to the loss of Adam in these unprecedented circumstances.

'We have been speaking to highly specialised experts in their field to assist in our enquiries and continue to work closely with the health and safety department at Sheffield City Council, which is supporting our ongoing investigation.

'Adam's death has sent shockwaves through many communities, from our local residents here in Sheffield to ice hockey fans across the world.

'We know these communities will expect us to handle this investigation with the same professionalism, fairness and sensitivity as any other and request that members of the public refrain from comment and speculation which could hinder this process.

'Our thoughts remain with all affected by this devastating incident as enquiries continue.'

The man in question cannot be named at this time.

Yeah they arrested the guy on Suspicion of Manslaughter & he is out on Bail.
I haven't seen the play or video but I am doubting that he did this on purpose. It was most likely an accident like we have seen many times over the last few years with guys getting cut. Like the guy doesn't feel bad enough already now he is facing potential charges.
    Makes no sense to me...
