Doriion out in Ottawa
Pierre Dorion was relieved of his duties as general manager of the Ottawa Senators. He was replaced by Steve Staios, president of hockey operations, who will be interim GM during the search for a permanent replacement.
According to owner MIchael Andlauer, the forfeit of a first-round pick may well have been the final straw for Dorion, after the NHL announced the Senators would forfeit a first-round draft pick in either the 2024, 2025 or 2026 NHL Draft. It all revolved around their trade of forward Evgenii Dadonov to the Vegas Golden Knights (2021), and then the invalidated trade of Dadonov to the Anaheim Ducks by the Knights (2022).
