**Walter Payton Topps Rc Question**
Is it safe to buy an ungraded Payton rc off ebay? Have these been known to be counterfeited?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

man, thats a tough one!! its not as counterfeited as elway/marino/emmitt supp, but im always skeptical buying such stuff on the bay!! it would have to be from a VERY reputable seller (preferably someone i dealt with many times in the past), would have to have very good front and back scans (scans, not photos), and would only pay with paypal....if it is in unreasonably good condition, i would be hesitant....if its that nice, who in their right mind wouldn't get it graded?? adds 5 - 10x the value on such a card....another thing is that there have been many reprints of walter's rookie inserted in a few topps sets in the past 5-10 years, making counterfeiting all the more easier...i would definately engage in some conversation with the seller to get an idea of what kind of person you are dealing with if you decide to pursue this....just some things for you to consider before confirming your bid....just be careful, and protect yourself
