I'm like 98% sure they've turned in their passports, and are stuck in Canada until this is over. I'm assuming this will go to trial..... once that trial is over: Anyone found guilty, they might have to serve time in jail. Once that's complete, they probably can have their passports back, and they probably could play in Russia. If they're found not guilty, they'll be able to move on and play somewhere else right away - but I suspect Russia will be the only option (not guilty MIGHT get them opportunities in other parts of Europe).
It also seems that this is going to take at least another 18 months before there will be any resolution (and perhaps longer than that. I've seen '2026 trial date' speculated, a lot).
I would be shocked, regardless of the verdict, if these guys ever play in the NHL again.

btw, never been easy to find a good goalie in Philly (for years anyway)...
