Hype always dies out though. What happens in a few years if he proves to be less the next McDavid and more so the next Daigle?

Considering how crappy all of their products have been for the last 3 or 4 years, they should lose the license. Anything would be better than Upper Deck.

Careful what you wish for. I don't think a lot of folks collecting baseball, basketball, etc. are too happy with the direction things are taking in their respective UD-free zones.

Yeah I don't think Upper Deck products have been crap lately at all. Watered down, many more parallels and Clear Cuts etc because they are producing many more boxes and have been cashing in for a while it seems.

I think those Bedard prices are insane. $120 for his Base Rookie is absolutely insane!

As for parallels, some parallels are not actually parallels, they are completely differenct cards. UD Young Guns Canvas, in my opinion are different cards, not parallels and therefore are not true rookie cards. I find OPC Black, Neon Green and Pink parallels do sell quite well, not as well as UD S1/S2 Exclusives.

As for the Red Border Parallel looking like a steal, I don't feel as if the Blue Border or Red Border Parallels in OPC have been selling well at all the last couple years, like less than or the same as the Retro versions. Too many parallels for a cheap product, perhaps.

UD has done some things right in the past few years. I loved OPC last year and this year, UD SP Legends Signatures was nice too! Vote with your wallet, collect what you like.

I will add my two cents about Topps / Fanatics. For years and years I have been buying a jumbo box of Topps series one, series two, and then update. A friend of mine also buys at the same time I do and each of us has always been able to put together a complete set of each series from one jumbo box. One year I was missing one card but the rest a complete series. Fast forward to this year and on 2/18/24 I went to our local and bought a jumbo box of Topps series one. Sort all the cards and I was 31 cards short of the set!

Yes, 31 cards short of the set! Seemed to me that Fanatics made the decision that you will not get a complete set from only one box. You want a set, you have to buy more product. Didn't leave a good taste in my mouth for Fanatics.

Maybe this box was a fluke but it sure didn't seem that way to me. As for Upper Deck, for decades I have had a love / hate relationship with them but overall their cards usually look amazing.

OPC last year was great, (This year's is good too, but overpriced due to the Bedard hype) but too few Upper Deck products have been great the last few years

I'm wishing the OPC boxes take a hit when series two comes out and young guns mania runs wild but I don't see them dropping.
