Andy Russell, who is best known for his time as a member of the 'Steel Curtain' defense with the Pittsburgh Steelers, passed away Thursday night at 82.

Russell played linebacker for the Steelers for 12 years, including 11 straight seasons from 1967-1976.

He missed the 1964 and 1965 seasons after a solid rookie year in 1963 to complete military commitments from college.

Russell's cause of death is unknown.

He was drafted out of Missouri in the 16th round of the 1963 draft after the Tigers had winning records each of the four years Russell was at the school.
