I wasn't collecting back then but I don't think there were hobby and retail configurations back then, I was just a box.

According to the 2023 Beckett paper guide, 98-99 was two series (1-210, 211-420). Main chase in series two is Martin St Louis, a few inserts, game used, and that Gretzky auto (one in a billion packs). There's no mention of hobby/retail, so cjb is likely remembering correctly.

If I remember correctly, it was all the same. There was no difference between retail and hobby. No blaster back then. The only difference was French and US and you could buy the French here in the states.

I believe there were "hobby" and "retail" boxes - but the packs inside were the same, just a different number of packs. Pretty sure that's a hobby box (simply has more packs than a retail).
That was a long time ago though, and my memory isn't the best.

On the box, there should be a list of the various subsets with odds. Are Exclusive parallels listed among them?
