Carl Erskine, the famed Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher and last surviving member of the famed 'Boys of Summer,' died on Tuesday at the age of 97.
His death was confirmed by filmmaker Ted Green, who directed a 2022 documentary on the famed pitcher: 'The Best We've Got.'
Green told The Washington Post that Erskine died from pneumonia.
Erskine is best remembered as a teammate of Jackie Robinson's during the 1940s and 50s, when Brooklyn's beloved Dodgers finally began to compete with New York's other teams, the Giants and Yankees.
They would finally upset the latter in the 1955 World Series, the first title in franchise history and the only of Erskine and Robinson's decorated careers.
