Exclamation Pete Rose has a Bowman Chrome autograph now?

We went from Pete Rose not even being allowed to be mentioned on the back of a Topps card in reference to the all time hit record to now him being allowed in fully licensed Topps/Bowman sets? Or is this just some elaborate April Fool's Day joke or something?

It is not a joke. Bowman has been adding some retrofractor Bowman 1st cards in the past couple releases. Clemente, Ruth, Rose, Bob Gibson, Josh Gibson, Yaz, Bench. I may have missed some.

Yeah I know they are trying new stuff like that and with guys like Tom Brady but Pete Rose has been banned for being on licensed cards for basically since he was banned. Upper Deck got in trouble with him and Shoeless Joe Jackson being on cards. And Topps famously edited him out of being even referenced on the back of players cards like Ichiro and Jeter where they take about all time hit leader instead of using the name Pete Rose. That's why Panini and other unlicensed companies used Rose in their products because they were allowed to but anybody with an official license like Topps wasn't.

So I just wonder what happened to now allow him in products and why they chose Bowman Chrome instead of something that would have made sense for a Pete Rose return like Topps Heritage or another throwback themed release.
