Hello.

Not sure who PC's errors/variations or has interest in errors/variations but I was briefly thumbing though a random box of '91 Topps a couple of weeks back hoping to pull some Chippers or something amusing and came across the Mark Whitten rookie and recalled the card had a variation that was once pretty desirable, so I googled an error/variation checklist and unfortunately the Mark Whitten was not the "hand over box" error, however I did pull something better - this bad boy - the 1991 Topps Chris Hoiles "white-inner box" variation which is arguably perhaps significantly more scarce and desirable than the Whitten depending on who's collecting what.

So to celebrate my good fortunes of pulling such a lovely card out of a box of junk I've decided to sacrifice it to play the "paperclip game". If you're unfamiliar - the idea of the "paperclip game" is to trade one object for another object (in this case cards) and the goal of the game is to trade up, and up, and up and the idea is if you're patient enough and successful enough with your trades - a collector could potentially trade up from a 1990 Fleer Jose Uribe to a 1952 Topps #311 Mantle PSA 9.

I tried this game once before several years back and I was pretty successful and ultimately ended up with a nice card for my PC. I started with a 1990-91 Upper Deck Jaromir Jagr Rookie and flipped that into a Tony Esposito Rookie - I mean it took a while and ultimately I decided to end the game and keep the Esposito RC (I PC Hawks) ... So I figured I would give it another shot and see what I can trade up to this time. I have nothing in mind at the moment but I'm sure I'll eventually have something.....I figured this Chris Hoiles variation would be suitable to get the ball rolling this time, I mean I pulled it out of an 800 count box of essentially commons so it's a "free" card (it was unknowingly part of a collection I purchased) and it has a little value ($50) and scarcity and desirability to boot, so yup...

I have no idea what the Hoiles books for - I've not seen a Beckett in years.. These things sell on eBay raw for around $40-60 but they don't pop up much, I was looking for comps and only a couple of raw copies have sold this year.. There are a handful of PSA slabs available on eBay for reference starting at something ridiculous like $139.99.

Anyways, if you're interested in the card, PM me and I'm sure we can work something out.

Thanks for reading, and if you ever played this "paperclip game" and traded up with anything I'd like to hear your experience - if not and you want to give it a go - well, here's an opportunity, lol...
