Yeah they have every reason to be mad as heck.
Funny how Nico complained about Luka not being in shape and then he goes and trades for a guy who's made of glass and hardly sees the floor anymore. What does it matter if AD is in shape if he hardly ever sees the court? Better a pudgy guy who at least plays than a broken fit one
I mean yeah Luka has missed time this season but in every other season he's played he's played in 60 games or more. Davis has played in 60 or more games only TWICE in the last SEVEN seasons...yikes.Last edited by WilyWestbrook0; 02-10-2025 at 04:40 PM.

The thing is I could have seen the move if they didn't make the NBA Finals last season. I have always been hard on Luka as I thought he was overrated but him being so young and getting that team to the NBA Finals you have to keep the guy. It isn't like he was Tmac and getting bounced out of the 1st round every year. This is also the organization that had Brunson and KP and really didn't handle them well either. Outside of lucking out on getting Irving after his comments this franchise would have been toast if they didn't get Luka on draft day. And even if AD can play for them he doesn't have the POTENTIAL that Luka had with the Mavericks. I can't even think of another guy that had so much potential in any sport that was just traded for basically half their value just like that. And to have it after you made the NBA Finals is a total slap in the face to any Mavericks fan. I know if I supported the team and they did that I wouldn't be a fan of the team either. What is the point when you get a truly special player like Luka and then you dump him for an injured guy who was already traded before.

Mac McClung becomes the first ever to win the dunk contest three times in a row. Well deserved. He's the greatest dunker of all time. People complaining that he uses props too much or gets an extra lift from them are just haters. The degree of difficulty on his dunks and his hang time are just insane. Respect also to Stephon Castle for giving him some competition; his dunks were great and would have won most other years, but McClung is just the dunking GOAT.

Yikes. Some very poorly organized things in this new All-Star game format.
Having the TNT crew honored during the middle of a timeout was terrible planning. Have that before or after the game, not in the middle of it.
Way too many ads and entertainment side distractions as well. Keep the focus on basketball. Kevin Hart had at least one joke that kids shouldn't have heard.
The one thing I do think that went well was making the teams play to a particular score. It made the game much more competitive. But I'm seeing lots of people saying that 40 isn't enough, and I tend to agree. 60 would probably be ideal.

Crazy day with Portis being suspended 25 games for taking an unapproved medication and now Wemby having to sit out the rest of the season with a blood clot. I read that Wemby's clot is believed to be an isolated case, like Brandon Ingram's was a few years ago. I sure hope that's the case as I'd hate for it to be a Chris Bosh type of situation for him. Wemby is the future of the league and I'd love to see his continued development. He looked great in the brief time he played in the weird All-Star game and I would have never thought something would go wrong with him so quickly after that. Then again, I never thought Dallas would trade Luka, lol. This has been a wild year for the league so far, and we're not even through February yet.

Thunder are struggling a bit as Chet gets incorporated back into the starting lineup. He and IHart haven't played much together yet, and it shows: the duo isn't looking like the Mobley/JA double big pairing up in Cleveland. The consensus among Thunder fans is that the double big starting lineup will obviously not only need more time, but also might be best to play only against certain matchups. Unlike the Cavs, the Thunder don't have a really dynamic offense for the two bigs lineup to work as optimally. Especially with Dort paired with the two bigs, the offense really becomes too reliant on SGA, and the Nets and Wolves have had a lot of success trapping him in these lineups. And on defense, the Thunder have been significantly worse lately because two bigs makes it harder for them to enact their perimeter ball pressure that was working so spectacularly for most of the season. Coach Daigneault will have to work out some strategies here for sure as we come up on playoff time. Against smaller teams, it may be best to bring IHart off the bench. And to avoid offensive droughts, it may be best to have Cason Wallace or Aaron Wiggins instead of Dort starting if they're going to run double bigs. Dort just doesn't have the ballhandling of Wallace or the scoring of Wiggins to help out SGA on offense when they're running the double bigs.
It will be interesting to see how all of this is addressed, but right now, it's the Cavs with the top record, and if these two teams do end up meeting in the Finals, I'm starting to think the Cavs have the better shot, especially if they maintain homecourt. They have more experience, more weapons on offense, and their defense is competent enough, especially with the excellent acquisition of De'Andre Hunter. I think the Celtics in the ECF would pose more of a threat to the Cavs than the Thunder in the Finals; if the Cavs get past Boston, they can probably take on anyone out West, OKC or otherwise. I'm just starting to think OKC isn't quite ready yet and they may not even make the Finals out West if they can't get Chet and IHart acclimated in time or if they keep struggling offensively when SGA gets trapped.

I have no idea why Kenny Atkinson didn't start De'Andre Hunter against the Celtics tonight. Wasn't the whole point of getting a wing his size to play against a team with good tall wings like Boston? Strus was lit up early in the first and now Cleveland will be lucky to dig themselves out of this 20+ point hole.
As excited as I've been for the Thunder and Cavs this season, starting to see real holes with them that teams with more playoff experience and recent success could exploit. I hope at least one of them can make the Finals, but it won't be easy. Having the best regular season conference records is no guarantee of making the Finals.
