Picked up 4 packs of Elevation and 4 packs of Gridiron Gear for the gift certificate (Mom added the $10 so I could even out the packs, lol).

That seems a bit ridiculous to me....why spend $60 on packs, with only a chance of getting something decent, when you could spend $60 on a bunch of nice singles for your collection.

I understand that, but wouldn't it have made more sense to just give you $50 cash, so that you could get some nice singles?

It was a present from his grandmother, and I'm pretty sure that she didn't know much about cards so she just got him a gift certificate to choose for himself. Also, I know people that don't like giving cash as a present during Christmas. Don't know why though.
