Maybe I'm wrong here, but.............
I buy a few Patrick Ewing cards here and there on ebay. Anyhow, I bought some older ones that I needed for my master collection. 2 separate auctions, I get charged $2 for the first and 1 extra for the second, no biggie for shipping as far as I'm concerned. So when I get them in the mail (very fast!!) they are in a white envelope. I decide to leave neutral feedback when I could have left a neg. and felt fine for it. Today, I get a message from the seller absolutely RIPPING me a new one for doing so. If I posted what he said I would get banned from here, lol. So, I write him back and tell him he is the lucky one, A) for not getting a neg. feedback from me and B) for making the extra 2.50 on the deal. Am I right for leaving a neutral, or does anyone think I should have left a negative. By the way before anyone asks, the seller did not state how the card would be sent.
Thanks

I would have left negative! It absolutely kills me when they charge 3.50 for shipping and then send in a PWE with 1 stamp on it .... do they think people are fools! I would contact Ebay about his comments made towards you and his unethical shipping methods (not that Ebay will care).

I get angry when I recieve cards in white envelopes, but if there not damaged and in mint condition, I usually just leave a positive.

I only ship cards in white envelopes when it's only like 1-3 base...otherwise, it's to BUBBLE!!!

The cards were not too bad off, the corners were a little white but overall alright since they are just for personal collection anyhow. The crazy thing about this I almost don't care about the envelope....maybe a little, but the comments after the feedback bother me more. He has about 600 feedback himself so I would figure maybe he would know by now......especially if he buys as well as sells. I have not recieved any feedback from him yet, so I can only imagine what I'll get (hopefully nothing).

As both an eBay seller and buyer, I would say this:
1) You should have asked beforehand.
2) #1 really doesn't matter because the seller should have told you how he ships. These stupid eBay sellers hide behind their high shipping charges and then ship in #10 envelopes. If the cards get dinged, they defend themselves and blame the USPS - or you because you didn't buy insurance.
3) A very bad trend has been going on for a long time in eBay: holding Positive feedback until someone gives you a positive. The feedback system is based on honesty and completed transactions. True, you should always contact your seller/buyer about any problems. But some people warrant the neutral or negative. To me it is clear: If I pay by PayPal, I should IMMEDIATELY get positive feedback. And if you wait for me to leave feedback first, you abuse the feedback system and corrupt the honesty of it all.
3) Finally, anyone looking to defend their retaliatory feedback need to grow up.

screw that i would have left him a Negative for Sure.....Ebay Sellers already reeeeem us for shipping as it is with $2.50+ when a bubble mailer can be bought for $.79 cents and on average $.53 cents to mail so right there they are making $1.00 profit and he had the nerve to send your cards in a Regular Envelope???? hahaha i woulda left him a negative and contacted ebay and let them know this guy is a rip-off, i absolutly hate people who do that!!

Actually, if you sandwich the card between two thick pieces of cardboard before putting it in a white envelope, it's almost as good as using a bubble one. I only did that once, and it was a cheap ($10) card.
In general, if the card arrives on time, in the condition the seller described, and without obvious overcharge for S&H, there's no reason not to leave positive feedback. In your case however, it seems like he DID jack you up for shipping costs. But it's just good business to contact the seller first, and see if there's anything they can do about your being unsatisfied. If they stall or refuse, THEN you have every right to blast them. That's happened to me three times, and in two cases the seller agreed to refund my money.
