Wonder If I should send mine in for consignment with Slab Sharks?
I mean it is going to go down again eventually.
Probably this season's version of Tage Thompson when it comes to roller coaster pricesLast edited by cjb; 08-31-2024 at 02:56 AM.

Well, thing is how long will the prices remain that high. I bet by the time you send them in the prices will come down quite considerably. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do with your cards. Prayers for the family as this is a tragic loss.

I wonder if there's a moral line here when it comes to people unloading their gaudreau cards. Is this a moral way to make money in cards?

Personally, it does not upset me if folks try to do it but I do not go after people cards after they die. Of course we all know prices spike up dramatically. All you have to do is watch anyone famous die and check sales of those cards go for a lot more like you shared above. Many members think it not kosher to do this and I agree it kind of bad when you pull all your cards out every time a player dies. As I am sure some folks do just that. Of course if you want to recoup any of the money you have in those cards it is the time to sell when they pass especially if they never reached their full potential in terms of Hall of Fame credentials etc.. So, it boils down to a personal preference of how it fits within your moral compass no more no less. Best of luck in whatever you do.

Yeah I sold a few Gaudreau cards before I even knew about the incident. I will not take advantage of a situation like this, but I know obviously because it involves money that people do. It would leave a foul taste in my mouth to jack up the price of someone's card immediately after their passing. Especially in this particular incident. It does not bother me that people do this. There are 8 billion people on the planet and almost everyone is in a situation where money is needed desperately.

If someone quietly sells their cards of a deceased player/celebrity on ebay I have no problem with that. The people that loudly make threads on message boards/social media with no condolences/no remorse while trying to pump their cards for sale on the back of a dead persons name is pretty low.

I think it's more the bidders' fault more than anything. people can unload their cards whenever they feel like, it's their right to. People shouldn't feel bad because other people are offering insane prices for their cards. I'm sure Upper Deck feels no moral qualms for charging collectors $150-$250 a box for cards that mostly have maybe $50 BV per box.
