Rangers acquired RHP Brandon McCarthy and OF David Paisano from the White Sox for LHP John Danks, RHP Nick Masset and RHP Jacob Rasner.

McCarthy is no savior, but he's a long-term No. 3 starter still five years away from free agency, and it's quite a coup for GM Jon Daniels that he was able to get the 23-year-old using just one of his top starting pitching prospects. McCarthy will join Kevin Millwood, Vicente Padilla and likely Robinson Tejeda in next year's rotation. This shouldn't have any effect on the Rangers' pursuit of Barry Zito. It does make it less likely that Akinori Otsuka will be traded for a starting pitcher, though that still could happen if Zito heads elsewhere.

Interested in the Dual with Anibal. Yeah, I can't believe the sox traded him. Of course we're loving it here in Dallas! Danks is decent, but certainly a step or 2 down from McCarthy, who is major league tested and ready for a starting role. LMK what you need. - Trey
