after reading that story...someone needs to hand Jason Taylor a tissue....it's not like Merriman has a long history of drug use, beating spouses, dui's and such....he took a supplement that was tainted...took his lumps, came back and has lit people up since then....hell, think of what he could have done if he hadn't been suspended....single season sack record that shouldn't belong to that mouthy fool up in New York would be his for the taking...Merriman is an incredible athlete, i got to watch many games when he played for the Terps and he's been a freak of nature since his first college game. If he was good enough to get a pro bowl nod, what's the big problem with him winnin Defensive player of the year, playing for a super bowl contender. Taylor is whining, pure and simple.

Exactly. Taylor is whining b/c he KNOWS Merriman is better than him. 16 sacks in 11 games? Sick. Taylor is trash compared to Merriman.

Well...i wouldn't say he's trash....he's got double digit sacks for the year and 2 picks taken to the house....kinda more like the old dog that was good for a long time gettin mad cause the new dog's movin in and tearin stuff up...

I'm not saying Taylor's trash...hell, I'd take him in Cleveland any day. I'm saying COMPARED to Merriman, Taylor can't run with him. Thats why I think he's running his mouth.

Tayler is "pleading his case" for defensive player of the year but it sounds to me like it's begging for it. I said before that Merriman was suspended and in that time dropped no lower than 11th in the sacks ranks. He came back and regained the lead 2 games after the sispension. I heard one of the guys on NFL Network say that it's an all or nothing thing. If you want to hold players from winning awards and attewnding the PB, it needs to not segregate just those who tested positive for performance enhancing drugs but to include any kind of violation of the NFL's moral terpitude. That would include drugs, DUI, firearm possession or any other form of law breaking activity. He said if that was the case, the Bengals wouldn't get hardly anyone into the PB.
