Lost everything
PLEASE make sure your cards are not stored in a basement. We had a flood yesterday and all of my boxes of cards were ruined. The garbage men come tomorrow to pick up 15 large boxes of cards.
I really didn't think this would happen in the 23 years I've been living here.
Now I have to start all over, except for my personal collection, that's stored in safety deposit box.
My biggest concern was that my son lost his entire collection, I feel for him more than my loss. He loved trading and selling under my name here.
So PLEASE protect your valuables.
I did have insurance on the cards, but the insurance company will only give us $5,000, as I didn't individualize each card.Last edited by bbcards4sale; 05-29-2025 at 11:53 AM.

So sorry to hear. I have a medium flat rate box with lots of base from recent years. I'd love to ship it to you to help rebuild you and your son's traders.

That's so nice of you. I'll let my son know. He mainly collects Yankees and Mets, but he loves sorting cards. Do you set up a trade thread for this or should I PM you our address?
Thanks again.Last edited by bbcards4sale; 05-29-2025 at 02:01 PM.

Just an asking for clarification did your house end up flooding or did you have a massive flood in your town like we recently had in KY. Sorry, to hear that but I am in the same boat as I only have a set dollar amount on my cards. If my house was to flood I would lose a lot of cardboard which means dollars down the drain. I do have some in plastic totes so they would be safe against several feet of water but all the 5000 3200, and the numerous count boxes would be totally loss. I am sure your in the same boat as if I lost everything 5,000 is not going to cover everything. The only reason I ask for clarification as some folks who have had flooding in their house have lost items even if they were not in a basement due to the water leaking near the cards and cardboard soaks up water pretty well. In the future are you planning on doing anything differently like putting the cards in a waterproof case like this:

$40 bucks is not a bad idea for the future if you think there a chance it can happen again.

It was a rusted water pipe that leaked and than must have ruptured. We lost all our monster boxes of cards and supplies. From here on out, we are going to store them in the master bedroom or attic. $5,000 wasn't even close to what we lost, but since I never itemized the cards, this was the max that the insuarance company paid, plus the repairs to the ceiling and carpet. We lost many other things and repair and cleanup took 5 days.

Sorry to hear this. I've had to rebuild after a fire, it takes time but you'll get back to where you were.

I bought 2 blaster boxes for my son and he got 1 Ohtani and 9 Yankees and Mets, he's ecstatic. It's a start to a long road ahead, but I want him happy again.
