Joe Biden didn't reverse the tariffs that Trump put in during his first term so why would a Democrat in 2029 rush to overturn these?Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

I just tried to order some cards from comc and it was $150 worth of cards and $70 for shipping and duty. It would arrive on August 21. If I wanted it rushed to be here on August 14 it would be $105.
I couldn't hit the purchase button with those costs.

I can't prove it obviously, but I think they're profiting off all the chaos.

Trump is imposing tarrifs on other countries. The American importer pays those tarrifs. Zero percent chance all importers are eating the costs and NOT passing in to the consumer. This isn't a political opinion. What you're saying is demonstrably false. Also, US inflation in June was 2.7% so "literally nothing has gone up" is also demonstrably false. I get you like Trump and dislike the media, but you can't make things up.Last edited by subban7677; 07-16-2025 at 10:03 PM.

Well Trump has been on record of saying some stupid stuff and many times he says they will bear they cost and I agree why would they.
Donald Trump slammed Walmart on May 17,
" the retail giant to ‘eat the tariffs’ instead of passing the costs to customers."
See he told a company to eat the tariff and not pass it on. Like that is going to happen.

James,
Just looking at the numbers prices of a grocery bill for all consumers has not remained the same.
Grocery prices in the U.S. have generally continued to increase over the last six months, though the rate of increase has slowed compared to previous years. While some categories saw larger increases, others have remained relatively stable or even decreased.

Not sure what facts you have to show that grocery prices are down but would love to see it. As I would love to share my wife that she has been exaggerating about how the prices have gone up.

This.
I don't know about the USA, but you saw it here in Canada too, with "supply chain issues" during COVID. Don't get me wrong. To a degree, there was plenty of evidence to support the fact that supply chain issues were wreaking havoc on a lot of things, and their prices went up..... but in a lot of cases, companies simply charged more because they could. Now that their supply chain is relatively normal, they never reverted those prices.
Same thing is happening now with Tariffs. I think what a lot of people need to remember is that tariffs put in by Trump are NOT affecting prices in Canada (yes, there is some back-and-forth trade where they could.... I believe lumber is something that's currently exempt, but it's cut here, sent to the USA, and then imported back into Canada after being processed. Could get hit twice, if not exempt).
My quick look, when building a shipment, is that COMC is charging 30% of value to cover the import tariff that your cards are going to be faced with when they hit the boarder. HOWEVER, the reciprocal tariffs that are in place right now are 25%, and have NEVER been 30%. I'm also suspicious of weather or not these cards would even get hit with tariffs (though I don't know for sure that the would or would not).
I will cut COMC some slack though. I suspect that it is not actually them charging this, but rather whomever their shipping partner is. It's why when you buy something on eBay that uses the GPSP, the cost to send from USA to Canada is astronomical. They'll charge $25(ish) to send a $10 card to you. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Americans could send that card to Canada, tracked, for about $10. The rest is to cover "duties and taxes" - which are almost never going to be applied (certainly not in normal times, for items under $100).
Regardless, weather it's COMC or their shipping partner (or a combo of both) - someone is making bank on this. Their charge of 30% is higher than the tariff rate of 25%, and as I said - I'm suspicious of weather or not the tariff would even be charged... particularly when many of the cards being send were not printed in the USA.

I have purchased quite a bit from comc over the years to complete sets and likely will be staying away from them until things get right again if they ever do.
