Need Advice in Selling Baseball Cards Use My $1,000 Sale TRAVIS BAZZANA ROOKIE CARD AUT

I admit I don't know what I'm doing buying baseball cards and I finally made about a $450 net profit after Ebay took their cut in selling (this is how I listed it on Ebay) AUSTRALIA TRAVIS BAZZANA ROOKIE CARD AUTO Black Refrat 4/5 '23 Leaf Vivid PSA 10 for about $1,000 before Ebay took their cut (sorry I can't figure out how to unbold this). I originally bought this for about $350 a year before when Bazzana was drafted. I stopped following baseball 40 years ago because it bores me but I did know Bazzana was from Australia and I thought for $350 this is a good investment because someone from AUstralia would always buy it. So it's a year later. Bazzana has been out injured and hasn't torn up baseball & frankly I could use some money. So I sold it for $1,000 on Ebay. Good deal or stupid deal? Should I have held off a few years and if he had a great year, maybe make some big bucks or just do what I did now, make a $450 net profit

I think whenever you can make $450 on a card of a guy who hasn't even played in the majors yet you take that as a win. There hasn't really even been a great player yet from Australia so you have history on your side. But you are correct that somebody will probably always want that card in Australia but $1000+ of a Leaf card of a guy who hasn't done anything in MLB is always a great score for the seller. I would have taken that in a heart beat and have taken the money now rather than risk a little more maybe down the road. So I say great sale. Congrats!

Thanks but my fear is he become the Australian Mike Trout in the next 2-3 years. I wasn't desperate for the money but I did need it to use for a recording project. If I had a larger bank account I would have waited another couple of years. In other words I bought the card as a 3-5 year investment hinking it could be really valuable but after a year I chickened out and figured if I could get a $1,000 and double my initial investment when the guys hasn't done anything, just go for it. I just hate the feeling if only I waited!

You did very well with a $450 profit, and in a short period of time.

I checked and he is highly rated at MLB.com as the #12 best prospect but MIke Trout was the #1 rated one over the very hyped Bryce Harper in most lists so they really aren't comparable. Doesn't mean the guy can't be good but he plays 2nd base. When was the last time there was a guy who came up at 2nd that dominated the hobby? So I wouldn't fret too much unless since it is a Leaf card. They tend to plateau even if the player turns into something big as much collectors chase stuff like Bowman Chrome for rookie autographs.

@Comet realistically you probably did well. Could the guy become the Australian Mike Trout, yes. But it is probably less that a 1% chance that this happens. Unfortunately most prospects don't pan out. E

While he had a little bit of time on the IL this season, he has played his way up to AAA. If he goes on a strong stretch with Columbus, I could see the Guardians potentially calling him up later this season when rosters expand.

You did well doubling your money, but as you said, you didn't really need it. I would've waited for the hopeful and potential callup later this year or in early 2026. It is a PSA 10 of the 15th best prospect in baseball right now.
