Graded Box Break?

Would this work?

If a box, such as 1990 Fleer Update set, which contains cards from each team including HOFers RC of Emmitt Smith, Junior Seau and others, was opened live and the cards placed into a psa order and sent? Would it work?

Example. People bid on the "graded" Emmitt Smith card from the unopened box. The box is opened, much like a box break, however...The card is immediate placed into a PSA holder and shipped out with the other cards from the same break.

So a PSA 10 Emmitt is in the $100 range. A 9 is in the $35 range....Would someone bid $35 or more to get a PSA graded Emmitt direct from a box. In theory, it should be a 9 or potentially a 10! but could be an 8 or less. Is the risk worth the reward? Seau is $30 to 50? Would someone bid $25 on that card? $25 dollars on any card in the box to be a PSA 10? What about the Score Supplemental set? The dollar amounts go up? or the 1989 Topps Traded Set with Deion, Barry, Troy and others?

I know it is just for an example but cards in 1990 were very off centered sometimes so you would be pulling 5s, 6s, or 7s from boxes too. There is a reason it is called the junk wax era because the quality was junk too.

Absolutely concur! Risk reward? Could get a 10 of o $100 card for $40 bucks. Could get a $15 card...

@Rookies_and_More- Rich- It's the same type of risk/reward as opening packs or boxes. I don't know if I would take the chance personally. It's an interesting idea though.

Also given how hot and popular box breaks are right now this would 100% be a success. There is nothing hotter in this already hot industry than box breaks. They are driving the cost of old and new boxes through the roof.

I would not do this, just because I like to see the cards and evaluate them before deciding if I will grade them. I don't want to buy into a break where I am paying to grade cards that either aren't worth it or will not get good grades.

@bigbenjobu Valid point! A lot of people agree with you. Flip side: As some one else stated, Box Breaks are the same risk.

Box breaks are the same risk. The way I read your post though, made it sound like I “had” to send cards in from the graded break. That is why I wouldn’t be for it. Most cards aren’t worth grading, especially the older 90’s sets because a lot were OC

@bigbenjobu Very True. I just sent in 30 cards. Some straight from the box 1990 Fleer Update and 1990 Score Supplemental Emmitt Smith's. You were right though, I didn't just send. I stopped and looked first, so I need to revise the methodology.

What if you paid for a team, so you know the cards you are getting and then decided if you wanted to send it in or not. The intention would be to send in a bunch, so it would need to be people who actually collect graded cards, but. I see what you are saying. Lower the risk a little bit.
