Topps ending the eTopps program forever
For those that don't know eTopps was a program that Topps started in 2000 that was basically a precursor to Upper Deck's epack, the NFT craze a few years ago, and Topps Project 2020. It allowed collectors to purchase cards and trade them virtually or have them shipped to you. Well that has ended and even though they promised to hold the cards in their vault forever they realized it was costing them too much money so they are shutting it down.
Collectors are basically getting screwed over as they are being forced to pay to have the cards shipped to them now or take Topps credit which is limited it what it can be spent on. On top of that collectors who have requested the cards shipped to them are receiving them in plastic bags with damage and scratches all over the cards. Even worse some of the few valuable cards Topps is claiming they "lost" them and now collectors are getting stupid credit for Lebron James rookies, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, etc.
Thankfully I never got into this and never would have since I saw it coming but the program was very popular for a couple of years and was basically the reason this forum came about. I remember being like the only guy who never invested in this stuff.
Anybody have any horror stories? Any good stories? If you did have an eTopps account you only have a few days left to cash out before they shut it down forever (still don't see how that is legal) so if you do or know somebody who does contact them now before it is too late.

Wow, blast from the past! I hope all is well with you.
I didn’t even know eTopps existed anymore. I’m pretty sure I zero’d out my account a decade+ ago. I remember a few years back I tried looking it up and couldn’t find a place to even get into my account.

Sad to hear that Topps made a lot of promises that they have now gone back on.
I have heard about ecards, but I've never gone that route.Jesus Said:
"Come Unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Never picked up ecards except what I have picked up on the secondary market. I wonder what their vault looked like and how come the vault was costing them too much money. It would seem like with all the money they would be able to keep making money to keep storing the cards that folks had in their vault.

Nice to see some of your older members on SCF chime in on a post you tagged them in. Will wonder if the other 3 will chime in that you tagged.

It is a blast from the past. I'm doing well and I'm glad you are as well. Far too many members have passed away over the years.
I've heard the past couple of years that Topps has basically made it very hard to get to your cards and redeem them. They charged outrageous shipping fees years ago and now they aren't even shipping them in the eTopps holder things. Guess they ran out of them? Don't know how any of this is legal but a good lawyer would get crushed by the billion dollar juggernaut Fanatics is now so unfortunately it looks like everyone who ever did this and didn't cash out is going to get screwed by it. It should also be a lesson to others who deal with various vaults and things like it. Nothing lasts forever
