Post Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Rudi Johnson dead at 45

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nf...i-Bengals.html

Rudi Johnson, a former running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, has died at the age of 45.

According to TMZ, Johnson committed suicide just after midnight on Tuesday.

The report adds that he had been struggling with mental health issues and feared he had CTE, the brain disease common in former NFL players that can only be diagnosed after someone has died.

The Bengals paid an emotional tribute to Johnson, who would have turned 46 next week, on social media.

Bengals president Mike Brown said: 'Rudi was a fine person and an excellent running back for us. He was dependable and productive as a player, and very popular among his teammates.

'Everyone liked him and saw him as a dear friend. We are deeply saddened by his passing.'

It is a sad reality that football has so many players suffering from CTE issues. I am assuming the concussion related issues had him contemplating suicide be it from the pain, thoughts of the future etc. Loved him watching him as he was pretty popular being close to Cincy. Prayers for his family.

I heard about the cause of death, but I didn't know it was related to CTE. So sad.

I don't really know what he was thinking as nobody would really know but when you get a concussion it is your brain hitting your skull. That does damage. I'm guessing all these guys with CTE are all screwed up in some way even though they appear normal. Rudi Johnson was a running back and a lot of RBs have been killing themselves or dying at a very early age compared to other positions. And it isn't just football where you can get concussions as guys in baseball and hockey get them all the time too. I just think the football related ones are worse as they are much more common and misdiagnosed. Unfortunately you probably have a couple guys each game getting them and at practice too.
