Baseball Collector in Maryland
Hello SCF! Rick/65 years old; I am getting back to baseball card collecting after decades away from the hobby. I mostly collected with my sons in the 80s/90s and am now helping my oldest son (almost 40 years old) sell his childhood collection. That gave me the bug to get back to my own interests such as the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles. I also am working on getting my 11 year old grandson interested in baseball cards! Hoping to have some fun and maybe relive the golden days!
I probably should have added that I am a dusty ballpark, wax pack, kind of collector. I am not enamored with the crazy parallels and other fads. They just clutter an ageless hobby. And I think Beckett is to the advantage of investors, not collectors.
Okay, so let's trade like we did in the old days - drop our bikes on their sides, open a wax pack, and see what we got!Last edited by RBrauerei; 06-19-2026 at 02:18 PM.

Glad to see you get back into the hobby and boy how things have changed. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Just a note if your grandson is not into sport cards baseball Pokemon and other gameing card game can be fun to be collected if you just enjoy the bonding time which is important as he might not enjoy sport cards.

Don, thanks for the comments! My grandson definitely is in to Pokemon collecting. I am lucky that he also enjoys baseball too!

I am sure we will do a deal/trade sometime! I am trying to rebuild my wife's childhood O's collection (thrown away by Mom - like so many others) and my grandson is an O's fan. I focus mainly on O's HOFers.
