Why are Tim Horton's Cards so Popular on here
I've never bought a Tim Horton's pack of cards in my life. I've seen them opened on youtube and they just don't look like anything special. Base cards are nice looking, but most adult collectors don't care about base cards anymore. Inserts are shiny but seem to have basic themes.
What am i missing here? other than a well functioning brain

Tim Hortons release seems to be the only product where you get your money out of a box.
100 packs in a box costs $200 which is how a lot of people buy the product when released. I think a lot of the reason why the set is so popular is because it is bringing children into the market and it lets fathers connect with their kids for a time. Someone I work with puts the set together every release, he even drops big money on the hard-to-hit inserts. He does this specifically for his kids, like all of his cards because he says that his children won't be able to afford a house in this day and age as easily as it was for him to buy a house.
So, there is an almost guaranteed money-back on your purchases and the release hits a different demographic which makes trades/purchases more abundant as people try to complete their sets every 6 months.Master List: Hidden Content

It scratches the itch to open packs, but for only $2.
If you don't hit anything big, it's only 2$ and I still have a donut and a steaming hot coffee to enjoy.
Plus some of this years inserts are cool, especially the lenticular cards.

They're cheap, they're usually pretty nice, and you do get the opportunity to hit some pretty cool cards from time to time. Couple years back I hit a Crosby jersey, I was able to make a swap to get the Slafkovsky #1 Draft Pick, and the other day I hit a Nugent-Hopkins jersey. Unlike the long-odds cards in Series 1 (still miffed about my 1:4,000 packs Mark Kastelic auto with its $5 value) the jersey redemptions and even the stuff that's 1:200 has some value to it.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The lenticular inserts 1:24 have a decent value too.
