Three-color patches (preferrably part of the logo) primarily of Houshmandzadeh or any other current Bengals (2004-present) I come across. I found this to be a less expensive alternative to the AU card. An AU is acceptable if the price is right.

I keep a spreadsheet that tracks all of my favorite players. (Criteria is mixed...must be a packer, have been a packer at one time, or just a good guy..ie not Moss or Owens)
On the spread sheet I have their Name, Jersey Number, Position, College, Pro Team, Rookie Year, Rookie Card Year, HOF Year (if applicable), Death Year (if applicable).
If they are on the "list" then the goal is to collect the following for each one:
1. Rookie Cards (at least one)
2. Autograph (From a year other than their Rookie Year and preferably with the auto directly on the card not on a sticker)
3. Memorabilia card (From a year other than their Rookie Year and preferably 3 colors or more)
The spreadsheet tracks whether or not I have each one of these cards and if the auto is D (direct on card), S (sticker), and how many colors on the memorabilia card.
I currently have 391 players on the "list".
I also am always trying to put together a few "hard to do" sets:
1. 2004 Donruss Classics Significant Signatures Platinum (#'d to 25 AU's)
2. 1997 Upper Deck Legends Legendary Signatures
3. 1999 Score 10th Anniversary Reprints Autographs
I also always put together a set of Bowman and Topps each year just to make sure that I have RC's for most players possible.
A friend of mine is a New Orleans Saints fan. We challenged each other to collect a RC for every player that ever played in at least one game of our respective teams. I went back to 1960 and of course he could only go back to 1964. Each of our collections has been completed...except for new players each year. That was tough to do!
If anyone ever wants to see my spreadsheet just PM me with your email and I will send it to you so you can check it out. It also contains links on each player to three different web sites for that players stats and bio information.

That is an incredible list of players and a great way to keep organized. Your collection must be very impressive.

It has been fun to say the least. I love the hunt more than anything else. I think the act of trying to find those "hard to find" cards is awesome. I have many cards that would probably mean absolutely nothing to anyone else. For example I have a 1989 Pro Set Don Majkowski RC that is autographed (I sent it to him in 1990). The card is virtually worthless and if you were not a Packers fan you would say Don Who?. But, that card means a ton to me.
This is just a GREAT Hobby! I really like these kinds of threads to hear how other people do this as well.
