1987 Topps #231 Giants Team Leaders - Who is pictured??
Please forgive me if this has been answered somewhere else. (I searched but could not find).
This card shows two players, one clearly is Bob Brenly. He appears to be in a mound conference with a pitcher, who I have seen identified as Jim Barr. Problem for me is, Barr had not played for the Giants since 1983 and why would Topps use a (minimum) 3 year old photo on this card?
There is part of the number 3 visible on the back of this mystery player's jersey, so this tracks with it being Barr as he wore #33. And, the picture kind of looks like him although it is from the side and part of Brenly's mask is obscuring his face.
Also, I see where Barr has been autographing this card for years so maybe that is all the evidence I need? However, if he has been doing that as a goof that would be kind of funny also.
I also have seen where people thought this was Jim Gott, but maybe only because of the similar names - Gott only pitched 13 innings for the Giants in 1986 and wore #51.
Assuming the photo was from 1986 the only other possibilities (also assuming it is a pitcher) would be Kelly Downs #37, Greg Minton #38 or Mike Krukow #39 (I am excluding Steve Carlton #32 because the player has his glove on his left hand). It just doesn't look much like Downs or Krukow but Minton seems possible.
Anyone know for sure?

Google search said this:
The 1987 Topps #231 Giants Team Leaders card features players who were part of the San Francisco Giants during that season. Notably, Bob Brenly and Jim Barr are identified as players on this card. However, there is some uncertainty regarding the identity of the other player, as they appear to be in a mound conference with Brenly, and the card's photo may not definitively identify them. Yeah, one thing that is certain is that Jim Barr did not pitch for the Giants in 1986

This is interesting because I also saw that it was Brenly and Barr. Barr even signed this card for me.
In looking at the timeframes though, if it were actually Brenly and Barr, that means it is from either the 1982 or 1983 season. Those are the only two years that they overlapped for the Giants.

I think I might send this card to both Jim Barr (who like you said has been signing it) and Greg Minton (I don't know of him signing it). It does appear that Jim Gott does NOT sign it based on the great info on this site.

@5Kings I wouldn't bother sending to Minton. He has a 14% success rate and hasn't had a TTM success since May of 2014. I checked another TTM site and he has a 10% success rate there with no successes since May of 2014 also.
