Can someone enlighten me?
Here is my question:
Why do some sellers (on ebay, here, wherever) only accept paypal? I mean I can understand that it is easier to track and all that good stuff but there are some who cannot have/use paypal for a variety of reasons (not counting getting screwed over by them).
There are times I am very willing to pay for cards I see from someone who is selling, but then I see the "paypal" only and I won't even bother asking, I just go on to the next auction/thread/whatever.
I have noticed on ebay there have been MANY cards that have sold for next to nothing when the seller has a paypal only auction going. To me that is nuts to give up a chance of being able to sell something for a possibly higher price by accepting the "ancient" forms of payments.
Some will say why don't I just pull myself into the present and use paypal....no thanks. I had an account way back when and it was nothing but headaches and I would now rather be drug butt naked over broken glass and then stabbed in the eye with a butter knife than to deal with that headache again
Maybe there are reasons why that I have not thought of and I guess that is the reason for this post...curiosity!
Thanks gang..
Peace~

I personally would use it if I had an account, because if you get ripped off you can get your money back.

as far as ebay goes, it is done strictly for the protection...waaaaay too many deadbeats on ebay and as a seller, paypal is your only source of protecting yourself from fraud....im not saying that paypal rules or anything....i have heard a billion horror stories!!! i have not personally had any problems that couldn't be resolved, but i am very cautious when using paypal and my paypal account.
i also think alot of it is due to the ease and quickness of payments....i love the "paypal only" auctions cause as you stated, rima, they usually get lower bids than comparable auctions that accept all forms of payment.

Rima,
I agree with a lot of whats said.. A few people will probly use this as well if they are short on cash and need to get quick money.. PP Only will give them SOMETHING.

Lmao Rima, nice post on the Being Drug through the Glass Naked and being stabbed in the Eye, lol.
Personally, I accept both. Although, I did get screwed from paypal, its the only way to go. If I DIDNT accept it, they auctions go for next to nothing, nickles and dimes. I personally, DO NOT, buy with MO or Check or Cash anymore though, just because I feel those who only accept that are (More Prone to be) scammers, and will only buy from those who do take Paypal.
Some people are legit, but when I see a Newb on Ebay, just joined, selling a $1000 Jordan Auto and only takes MO, Im staying away. It also covers there behind a bit more.

I accept all methods of payments when selling but I only buy using PayPal. I will use a money order from time to time depending on the seller and their current history/feedback/activity on eBay. If someone hasn`t sold or bought within the last 6 months I will not deal with that person. I only deal with active members of eBay. I don`t sell too many high priced items and I certainly don`t buy too many high priced items, so if I get screwed it isn`t going to break me. Buying/selling trading cards on eBay is just a hobby within a hobby basically.

Thanks everyone for the posts....
I can totally understand on something really high dollar...it would give you protection, but on the lower dollar stuff don't the fees take a good chunk of what you may make? I have seen many people get stiffed by someone although paypal was used.
I also understand on the need the dough quick thing...that is totally understandable and that was what I figured most of it was.
Thanks again folks and LOL sense... I will keep you in mind!
I think it boils down to me being very bitter because there is something I want on ebay and it is paypal only!!! :new_cussi :icon_lol:
Peace~

Im an average guy that used paypal 100 times and then got royally jacked twice in two months... I know there are a pluthera of reasons as to maybe why, but I am VERY selective with using paypal now... As far as deals go, sometimes the best deals on this site are cash/mo only deals...
