SPAuthenic or SPX?
I'm interested in buying either a box of 04/05 SP Authentic or 05/06 SPX. Can anyone who has had experience with these boxes, tell me which one is better in terms of:
1) Value/Bang for the Buck
2) Rookie Class Potential
3) Card Design
4) Variety
5) Overall Attractiveness
(If you could give a rating out of 10 for each category that would also be helpful) Your help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for bringing this topic up again, it'll be the last time. Everyone's been really helpful with my previous posts so I won't be discouraged if no one posts a reply. It's just that this is my first major box purchase and I don't got a lot of money, so I want to make sure I make the right decision. If anyone can help out with my question on the first post, your help is hugely appreciated; if not, its ok :)

i dont know much about sp authentic, but i have seen good stuff out of SPx. my bro pulled a bogut auto jsy and a jarrett jack auto jsy in the same box. typically sp authentic tends to be a hit or miss box. although SPx can be like that too, i'd say your best bet is SPx. hope that helps

They are both decent, but if I had to choose one over the other I would go with SPx, because I have always liked there dual winning materials gu and it's IMO worth your money more than SPA. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I'd go with 04/05, draft class is about 100x better than 05/06.

I've never purchased a SP Authentic or SPX box before. I usually always go with Topps products though because any Upper Deck product is either hit or miss and I always catch the miss boxes. I've never hit anything even decent out of an Upper Deck box. I'd say your best bet is 05-06 SPX though. I looked at my Beckett and compared the products and 05-06 SPX seems like it has more bang for your buck. This month Beckett priced the Monta Ellis SPX auto/jsy rc /99 for the first time and it books $450! Maybe you can hit that or the Paul. Good luck to you in whichever one you choose.

I think you're better off saving your money or buying singles but if you want to buy a box I would say go with 04-05 SP Authentic. As someone else stated the draft class from that year is better. I also like their design better and I don't like the cut auto's(sometimes they get cut off) with SPx. SP Authentic also has patch auto's of star players and rookies, as well as the legends auto's and dual and triple auto's of legends and rookies.
UD is very hit or miss though and with SPx or SP Authentic you usually only get one #'d auto RC per box, plus another auto and/or GU. Therefore if your auto RC is a noboby(worth approx. $10) you might feel shafted on a box that generally costs over $100.Last edited by wrafman; 01-16-2007 at 06:03 AM.

Thank you everyone for their insight and opinion. Now I got a better foundation to make a decision. I think I am more likely to go with SPAuthentic then, since as a lot of people have mentioned, the 04/05 rookie class is better than 05/06. Thanks for the help guys.
