I hate pack searchers just as much as the next guy, but it irritates me when people blame them whenever they don't get it a hit. When you buy retail, you're already taking a risk because it's much harder to hit in retail than it is in hobby. Then you have the pack searchers as well, making it even harder to hit. So my question is, why even buy out of retail? It just doesn't make sense to me. Unless you're looking for something other than a hit, you have a pretty lousy chance. I don't agree with pack searching, but the fact is, it ain't gonna go away, so I think the best thing we can do is simply not buy retail!

the entire hobby is going down. GU`d are worth nothing these days. Pack searchers are taking most of those worthless cards from kids who may otherwise be happy with a piece of cloth inside a piece of cardboard. Even hobby boxes are a joke. $150+ and you pull non-roster rookies and the entire book value of the box barely hits $100.00. It`s just time to stop with this hobby for awhile until card companies realize no one is buying their products anymore. EBay is flooded with just about every card be it auto, GU`d, parallel, RC, insert. Which I suppose is a good thing for those who are looking for cards, but absolutely horrible for those trying to get at least 10% of the book value. It`s no longer worth the trouble of buying and then selling on eBay. It was nice for awhile selling cards to raise a few bucks to feed the addiction of pack ripping/box breaking. Just isn`t feasible these days anymore. I know I sound like the Hand Of Doom, but I`m sure I`m not the only person who is quitting this hobby or leaving it for awhile.

Maybe ToysRUs has the best idea, bubble packs and plastic containers.

Exactly. I usually get my cards from Target or Walmart and never pull anything. I always figured it was just bad luck. But I went to Toys R Us and bought 4 packs of cards in the little bubble packs and got 3 decent pulls.

I can understand the GU thing due to thickness, but the autos should be impossible to tell apart. It's just rediculious. Someone please explain.

Some pack searchers use mini scales to weigh the packs. The heavier packs, even if only by micrograms, could mean an auto in the pack.

geez, why go through such lengths and still not be guaranteed an auto? It`s just gotten so damn crazy and greedy this hobby. This is why I`m leaving it.

I just put an order over at esupply for more bubble mailers. I ran out of 250 already. Hopefully this will be the last order of bubble mailers I`ll need. Getting 200 #0 mailers and 100 #000 mailers. I think I`ll be able to clear out the remainder of small player lots and single cards with this shipment. Once I`m done selling off everything, I`m done with card collecting. Maybe I`ll get back into again in the future. If so, I`ll be more wise on what I purchase and I highly doubt I`ll be buying anymore packs/boxes to bust. Who knows, buying a box of cards, or even a single pack of cards might be $1,000.00 at that time. :icon_roll

Today at another Target there were three boxes with only one pack gone.
Does anyone know the auto odds on retail boxes? The auto hot packs are showing up on Ebay so they must be pulling the autos.
