OT: Just wondering...

I'm sure there are LOTS of people wanting to Buy/Sell/Trade out there right now just like me...

How come so many people on this board WON'T trade certain cards for cards they WANT from you???

If it's $=$ or the $ amount is in your favor - and you are getting cards you WANT for your collection/set/whatever, who cares if its AUTO for AUTO, GU for GU or AUTO for GU or GU for Parallel, etc?

I've had lots of people write asking about stuff off my list - I send them a quick response with Total $ for item DLVD (usually less than 50% BV DLVD) - no muss no fuss... then it's "oh, I'm tight on cash, I only want to trade" so I take the time to look and go through their trade lists (even though I have specifically listed what I am looking for), I find a few things I can work with, send a counter trade offer giving them FULL BV for their cards and ONLY asking 60% BV for my cards in trade, then its some other junk - "oh I only want to trade that for another Auto/GU/whatever".

If you're NOT serious about buying or you don't really want me to pick stuff from your POSTED trade list - PLEASE don't waste my time telling me how interested you are in my cards. I don't have the time to waste to answer each inquiry only to get the same crap answers back just to end up where I started.

Sorry to rant, but my personal philosophy is this:

If I want a card for my collection/set/whatever, then ANYTHING on my trade/sell list is game.

If that's NOT true for you, then you should update your trade list and say as much (i.e. This Auto card only available in trade for another Auto card) rather than wasting everyones time.

Chris - Don't let it get you down. There are a lot of GREAT traders on this board, and in this forum, for that matter. Some people answer your threads just to test the waters. I get a lot of inquiries, and most of them fall through. One thing that is certain....people will change their minds when it comes to trading cards, and that is their right. I don't think that they mean any disrespect when they ask about cards, and then do not trade for them. They are just checking to see what kind of deal that they can get. Take it from me, there is no harm in trying. Keep plugging away, and I'm sure you'll find your groove. Good Luck!!!

there is one thing on this post that jumps out at me - i seriously doubt anyone on here is going to pay 50% book for anything - ever.

I almost exclusively sell these days & I sell rookies and inserts at 10% book OR LESS and GU and autos for 1/4 book OR LESS & I still don't move as much as I'd like. If someone is buying a larger lot they always get it for even less than that. If it's a superhot or superrare card, that might be different but those are the pricing guidelines most folks on here go by.

as far as trading - yah that's frustrating, but people put a really high premium on thier GU & autos. It makes trading tuff, but you have a great supply of GU & autos so I'm sure the trading will pick up for you. I find the player/team thread a great place to find serious collectors of specific players & teams.
Many of those folks REALLY want anything (base/inserts) and they'll make it happen. Make it real obvious in your sig what you are looking for in trade.With your tradelist, you should have no problem making some deals.
