It all depends of money you're going to invest ! if you want a cheap collection , buy Victory ! if you want a nice one , you could purchase some SPx boxes

    Also new to NHL

What is the difference between all of the UD sets? I usually collect Topps and UD basketball and I would like to look at completing a set of hockey cards. Is there a set that you would recommend?

I would like to stay reasonable in cost but still get some cool cards.

    Price! haha

Well, depends on what you are looking for. If you want game used cards... SP Game Used is very good, but a little pricey. For rookie, Upper Deck series 1 and 2 (young guns) are great, and UD ICE is good for rookies. The Cup from last year was over the top - $500 for a pack of 4 cards! MVP, Victory, etc. are cheaper brands. They have 'okay' base cards, and few inserts. They're great for people not looking to spend a lot. SP Authentic is also a good set for autos and rookies in my opinion.

But, it all comes down to cost!

I find SP Game Used to have poor return for your money. I like SPx, Authentic, and basic Upper Deck is always good value (and popular, and you can find them cheap). I usually don't bother with MVP or Victory. In my opinion, Mini-Jersey is well...dumb...sorry. Also, I'm not into Bee Hive because I don't like oversized cards. My favorite set from last year was Fleer Ultra, but I find that this year's Ultra offers nothing new and is almost a carbon copy of 05-06. Don't forget ITG products however. They can be the most innovative and have good return. If you have the means, the Ultimate brands of UD and ITG always have excellent value. The Cup is just crazy and I won't go there.
