    what size toploaders do I need for thicker cards like material cards?

    depends how thick your GU cards are... are you talking like sweet spot cards or just a standard GU card? They come all the way up to 5 mm which will hold about any card... more can be found here

    Dumb question moment, what does GU stand for? I guess I have to learn some how right? Even if it means I have to ask dumb questions.

    Lets say a Leaf 2006 rookies and stars material card. What size would I need for it?

    No stupid questions. GU stands for game used. So like a card with a peice of jersey on it or a football on it would be a GU card.

    A 2mm thick top load should work just fine, or one that will hold up to a 75 point, (that's paper thickness) card.
