Annoyed w/ parallels!!!
Why are there SO MANY parallels? I dont have much problem with refractors or the different color borders that Topps tends to do, but take Playoff for example, I can pull a card, like the Leaf R&S Standing O subset or the Gridiron Gear Performers subset and I can tell that it was designed with the purpose of putting a GU swatch into the card. So why put out the non GU cards?? No one gets excited about that!! Dont even get me started on Triple Threads!! The parallel system employed in the really high end stuff is a big reason I dont drop cash on the stuff. If I dont hit the "White Whale" or the #'d /7 instead of the same exact card with a differnt color background foil, the card is worth $100 less.....
Maybe its just me, because I tend to buy cheaper blaster boxes more often. But the only Hobby Shops in Indy are a pretty good drive from where I live and I like to bust some packs sometimes, so why put that junk in there? I am not relieved to have gotten a parallel #'d to 1000, I am probably more disappointed if I had gotten all base, because there is still no value to the parallel I just pulled, but I think to myself "too bad that wasnt a GU or AUTO"
or maybe its because I am still awake at 4am?

Along those same lines I feel cheated when I buy cards from several different sets and they all use the same picture! I hate that! Even worse is when they use the same picture and photoshop a different uniform onto it so that he's wearing pro/college instead. I just noticed this today with my topps DP&P Vernon Davis Rc it's the exact same pic as his Topps and Topps Chrome RC's but they somehow put a different uniform on him! That's just lazy for the prices that we pay for some of these packs they could atleast get different pics and not alter them.

Topps Triple Threads is garbage...they have like 10 different parallels of the same exact card just #d different and with a different color. Thats one of my least favorite types to come out. With so many parallels of the same card, there cards are worth nothing.

I agree. If they are going to make parallels at least make them somewhat different like the refractors (although not usre if they really need to have a red, blue green etc version)

I agree about the insert cards that were designed for jersey/auto pieces but are released as a subset without the jersey/auto pieces. Those things stink and they're what really drove me away from buying random packs (I do setbuild, though).
I don't mind a tiered system in cards as long as it really gives distinction to the product - /1, /100, /500, /1000. What really gets me, though, are sets that do /1, /5, /25, /50, /75, /99 and on and on and on in small increments. I buy a lot on eBay and I do not pay more, nor do I get any more excited, for special cards when they come from a set like that..

I personally like #ed paralells but I think they should make them more short printed.. I don't think any #ed paralells/inserts should be numbered over /100.. When paralells are /1000 and /1500 and even /250 they just don't seem rare enough to draw any interest from traders or buyers.

Why do these card companies put them in packs you ask? Because they like to rip off the consumer. Thats why. It`s all a big joke to the card companies. They take your money and they give you crap in return.
I`ve always wanted to know why companies have 100+ rookies in their sets. 75% of them do not even make it through training camp let alone making the pre-season roster. We certainly do not need no name rookies. It`s funny that most auto`s and Jersey cards are of those no name rookies. They knew they wouldn`t make the cut and were happy to sign 25,000 cards for these companies. At least they were able to make some money.
