    graded 10 with noticeable damage?

So I bought this Gridiron Gear Caddilac rookie graded BCCG 10 off ebay, and I'm looking at the bottom left corner and I can see a slight bend in it. It looks like it might have hit a desk or something. Is there a way to tell if the case was tampered with? I can't believe it would get a 10 with a flaw thats easily noticeable.

the card graders aren't super heroes, just normal people like me and you. maybe he ran out of cases that said 8 and instead of going back to the storage room for more he just threw it in a 10 case and said the heck with it i wanna go home. its possible

I am not sure if it was tampered with but I will tell you this is not the first time I have seen this.
I have a 1999 Michael Irvin that I got from one of those Tri-Star pack a few years ago that is a BCCG 10 as well at it clearly has a messed up corner on the lower right if I recall right.
Interesting that there is another like that out there, I thought for sure they just got lazy on the Irvin.
Then again maybe they got lazy on both of them.

Maybe see if the seller would take it back and try another one...

It's BCCG...that barely counts as graded anyway.

To my knowledge, BCCG is one of those grading types like GEM or PRO. Their graded 10 means the card is mint or nr-mint. I know BCCG is from Beckett, but it is not the same as BGS (also from beckett). BGS and PSA are premium grading companys and they are more strict and have different standards when grading cards compared to BCCG GEM and PRO.

BCCG is (from my understanding) a grading process that can be done almost anywhere by almost anyone. I think you and I can get the materials necessary to grade our own cards with the BCCG ratings. Because there are no centralized standards the spectrum of grading is not even realistic and cover a wide array of qualities. I NEVER buy or trade for any BCCG as you never know what you will get.

    Interesting stuff.

As for the original poster - do you have a scan?

i have theory, but didnt read the responses so maybe its been said. Maybe it was graded a 10 at a show or through the mail. After the grading and before being inserted into the case, the card is accidentily dropped. Would they punish the customer and change the grade? Probably not, especially in person.

But I've only got a card graded once in my life so this is just a shot in the dark.

I have seen quite a few BCCG 10s and most of them wouldn't even get a 9 from BGS. BCCG is only a quick version of the BGS grading system and a lot cheaper. Most collectors don't pay much attention to BCCG 10s. Sorry you had to find out the hard way.
