Basketball Hobby Boxes
I recently broke a box of 05-06 Upperdeck hobby basketball, and a hobby box of 06-07, and it seems to me that there just isnt as many pulls in 06-07
In 05-06 I pulled 3 game used, a rookie card parallel /100, and a redemption card for a GU
In 06-07 I pulled 1 game used, and that was it.
True in 06-07 you have the potential for UD Black redemptions, but I miss the boxes where u could pull 3 game used. It seems like this year, apart from topps, parallel cards are hard to come across.
I dont mean to seem greedy, but are the companies kind of holding back now?

It's a good trend imo
Too many parallels are just worthless.. I mean Finest had what 9 variations or something of the base set? It was ridiculous.. And the values on the cards themselves were basically the same despite slightly varying print runs
Same goes for too many GU.. What's the point if it's of some marginal player that is lucky to fetch $1+shipping on ebay?
IMO they should just increase the quality of the base cards, make the box hits actually meaningful (GU's only of STAR players.. and I dont mean beckett "Semistar" guys.. I'm saying the best player on each team only).. autos of rookies or stars only.. etc.. and make their prices reflect this
Then after that, insert the worthless cards (gu/auto of non-star players) as a bonus
As it is now they demand premium prices for having all this memorabilia and autos inserted, despite the fact that literally 85% of the hits will not even exceed the sell value of an unopened pack.. and probably 95%+ will not exceed the cost of the box.

? Not at all
It's the opposite.. When will you ever get $60 worth of cards in a $60 box of UD?
Even as the stakes get higher (more money involved) the return is never even close..
IMO it should work out so that you have about a 30% chance of making your money back on a box of cards
which gives you about a 30% chance on a case, etc.
Flooding the market with crap just devalues everything.. as you've already seen. 99% of jsy cards sell for under 10 bucks.. And yet the packs those come in? $10 for Hardcourt or Sweet Shot.. $15 for EX.. etc.
It just makes no sense whatsoever to buy unopened product if you actually thought about it. You're better off using your money in a casino.
