there is something wrong with Malone staying, his time is up just like Jordan's has been for 2 years, they won't get out of the spotlight for the younger stars, they won;t to be selfish and get all the attention because they are still playing when they are 39 and 40, Give it up and let Amare take his spotlight
Good for Stockton to give his light up for Nash, Bibby, Kidd and the rest

Rickey Henderson, unlike Malone and/or Stockton, was and is a jackass.
Remember when he broke Lou Brock's stolen bases record, and proclaimed "...today, I am the greatest.."??
lol
But, you have to give the man his props.
75+ homers leading off the games.
and god knows how many stolen bases he has. That's one record not likely to be broken for a long long time.
Players get stronger and wiser as they grow older, hence they're able to hit more homers (Bonds, Sosa)....but the speed dies with age.
No player is ever faster as a 35-y/o than he was as a 25-y/o.
So, it's much easier to break home run records than it is to break Henderson's records.

I don't think thats the case.
If Malone wants to play he CAN STILL HELP many teams in the league.
That I don't have a problem with. What I do have a problem with is him going to the Lakers or something just so he can win a ring. To me even if he does win a ring like that is shouldn't count. When you just go for a ride with a team just to win a title then you are missing the whole point.
Its like when Canseco won a ring with the Yankees a few years back. He had like 2 at bats in the whole playoffs. Did he win a ring? Yes, but is that something to be proud of? No.
But that is just the way I see it.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

That record will never be broken. Teams play a different kind of game today. It's more power oriented. Get a couple guys on base and jack one out. The top base stealers in today's game (Ichiro,Pierre etc..) won't play long enough at that level to touch Rickey's record.

yep rickey was reported that he is playing in some independent league, I think the dude just likes to play baseball, we just build a new stadium in my hometown, I wish he would have played for us, and yeah even though he is an ™™™™™, I still would have enjoyed watching him play.
Yeah, Rickey doesn't play too far from me. He plays for the Newark Bears in Newark, NJ. He's probably stealing bases on them like crazy, even given his old age.

He's on a team with former Astro and Tiger Jose Lima. Bill Madlock is the manager and Billy Ashley is one of the coaches. Pretty crazy. He should still be on a Major League roster.

You're right, pretty cool team. Also, Matt Wagner former Seattle Mariners pitcher and top prospect is on the Newark Bears, as is Henderson and Lima. www.NewarkBears.com, check it out.
