Age old question, Packs vs Cards

Last year I resigned myself to just purchase what cards I wanted and not buy any more packs/boxes. I always end up with cards that I can't trade. Now I also resigned myself at paying higher prices for the cards from my local card shop or off ebay, etc.

The problem is, you don't have any trading fodder, and you don't get the excitement from opening packs up!

    Anyone else wrestle with this?

I go back and forth on this, too. Rather than spending $$ on a box, I like taking that cash to ebay and getting a card or two that I REALLY want and like.

On the other hand, I really like the anticipation involved in opening a box. Every box bought has the possibility of having that once-in-a-lifetime pull. It rarely pans out that way, but boxes are still fun to open. That's something an ebay win can't duplicate.

I have 6 boxes of Football coming and 1 Basketball. I also have 2 packs football coming from Enigma. What's my chances of getting a Colts or Panthers autograph or GU'ed out of it? But 1/2 the fun is opening the packs.

BTW I ordered 2 of the boxes from Trading Card Collectibles. I MUST be out of my mind! I have ordered from them before and it's takes FOREVER to get them. They finally sent my first box today 20 days after I ordered it! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do it again!

Thankfully this has never been an issue for me.....I have never really had the urge to bust wax...I always buy singles off ebay or elsewhere. I think the last wax box I busted was a 2003 Topps Chrome hobby box I won in a contest. I have bought a few packs here and there since then but always had "buyers remorse" after opening them (and I am talking $4-$7 packs)...I always thought to myself "I could have got a (insert player name here) autograph for that money."

    Peace~

I have not bought a hobby box in years, for one I got my first job at McDonald's in July and I am 16, so I dont have much money to spend in the first place, I stick to singles, you can get some good deals, you could buy a few nice high end cards for the $$ you could spend and end up with a $20 auto of a no namer.

    I like ebay better IMO
