    finest redemption

Just wondering...is it too late to redeem the 05-06 Topps Finest redemption cards? I have 2 unredeemed xfractor rookies, but it says on the back of the card that the redemptions must be received at Topps by June 30.

It's June 20 today and I live in Canada. Knowing that if I use a faster shipping option at the expense of a few more dollars, it will probably arrive within a week's time. However, even if it does arrive in time, who knows how long "processing time" takes...so should I send it out ASAP or save my postage money?

I never liked the idea of redemption cards...it's slow, the card content (player/prize) could be subjected to change at any time if the company doesn't have the resources, and worst of all, the very fact that you pay for a product that is not readily available "what you see is what you get" is totally ridiculous. Also, if it's a Topps product, you have to pay for postage. I understand that some people don't mind it and a few lucky ones actually get their redemptions early or get an upgrade etc. But all in all, even if you eventually get something, I just don't think it makes sense to sell something that is not physically there. For those unfortunate enough to have their redemptions changed, lost through mail, or was too slow to make the redemption deadline, it's almost like gambling when the company has no collateral and when they lose, they say don't worry I'll pay back (but over a period of time or substitute with something less lucrative). If companies are going to make redemption programs...why set a relatively short expiry date? Doesn't that hinder the value of boxes? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions whether something is good, bad, acceptable, etc, but I think it's very safe to say everyone would prefer if there was no redemptions at all and get the product as is.
