HDTV's
I've been granted some credit from Best Buy recently and I'll be getting an LCD HDTV that will go along nicely with my PS3. I'm pretty familiar with what my needs will be (size, capabilities, number of HDMI inputs and such). However I'm not an expert at this and since I want to make a good decision I'd like to know what ya'll have, what you know, and things I need to look out for, especially for gaming. Thanks in advance!

Consumer Reports is an awesome spot for reviews. My buddy has a Westinghouse that he likes. It works great with his PS3.

Just be careful with some Sony TV's, my Sony for some reason won't let me connect a PS3 with a HDMI cable, it just doesn't work. The PS3 still looks great with the other High def connection, but the HDMI is the best cable to get.
Good luck

Also, what do you mean by "it just doesn't work"? That's an interested problem, I hope that's something that can be resolved.

Since this sounds like something I just went through, I would like to add my 2 cents. :)
I have a Samsung DLP and a Visio plasma. Samsung, no problems, and I have had it for almost a year now.
When I brought the visio home a couple of weeks ago, it was defective, but I tried researching the problems everywhere, (good ol' google), and I found that some chipsets have computability problems with HDMI signals, and the tech forums suggested using the composite inputs instead. I tried using composite but I had the same problem. Since HDMI signals really wasn't my problem I stopped researching further, but still neat info, as it seems this is a common problem.
I returned my visio the next day, and since then, this new one has worked great with HDMI, AND it is very economical.
ALSO: I have tried both HDMI and composite for comparison, and they both worked equally as well, and both can support 1080i/p. I like HDMI, simply because less cable clutter.
I use HD only with directv, but plan on getting either HD DVD or blueray.

Cool beans, thanks for the input. I went to consumer report website and for the limited info I could find (they want money through a subscription to find out more! Bogus!) and it said that Phillips and Visio had more problems than the other brand names.

Ok, I'm getting closer and everyday of research brings more questions. I have digital cable, but my set-top box is an older model, so I'll need to call my cable company and have them replace it with their HD set-top box (I'm not interested in the Cablecard thingy). I am also going to be purchasing a home theatre system, a HDMI receiver set-up. How are these three (including the PS3) connected using the HDMI ports?
Cable set-top box to TV?
PS3 to TV?
Receiver to TV?

I just hooked up my Sony Bravia XBR46 and we used HDMI cables for everything (Including PS3) and boy does it make a difference, if you're going to spend that kind of cash on a nice TV, I say go all the way, HDMI cables ARE more expensive but you definitely get what you're paying for.

Thanks for the input, however I have a question about this setup. Will I be able get sound from the HDTV and the Home theatre at the same time?
