07-08 Hobby Box Question
We've all seen boxes appreciate in value when a particular rookie class produces multiple stars, the most notable recently being the 03-04 class. The upcoming 07-08 class, with all the hype that's been generated the past year or so, offers a huge amount of promise and potential - with some experts even labelling it as the "best" or "deepest" draft EVER! However, potential is still just potential, except this year's crop of youngsters seem more likely to fulfill/even exceed that potential rather than fail.
Now, my question is if prices of boxes will raise in value during the season, assuming the rookies are performing well, or after the season is over? Does anyone remember if prices of boxes stayed relatively the same from its initial release throughout the 03-04 year (before inflating exponentially afterwards)? I raised this question when I was looking on eBay for an 07 Finest Hobby Box and in the description it says, "prices will only get higher". Now with a performing rookie class, through experience, does anyone know if boxes usually stay the same as its release pricing for that year or raise in price midseason? As I've only been introduced to the hobby for a little over a year, I'm not too familiar with trends. Just wanted to know because I really like this rookie class and would probably do a lot of spending this year, but I just want to see the rookies play half a season before buying. Or will it be too late by that time when prices are barely affordable for us average blokes?

2003/04 boxes rose at the beginning of 2004 when the rookies started showing their potential, especially James and Anthony.

Hey enigma, so you don't think box prices will rise before the turn of the year?

Thanks for the input tradebark. I just hope that boxes won't be too expensive this year as there are a lot of talented, but more importantly, likeable players in this rookie class. I was wondering if lowering the prices a bit for this year would actually be beneficial to the card comapnies, since so much hype is made about this rookie class.
