    Mark McGwire Topps RC (Tiffany???)

    Hello Everyone,

I received these cards from the person today who is asking me to sell them for him.

How do you tell the difference between Topps Tiffany and regular Topps??

I know the Tiffany is glossy (like this McGwire I have) but are there any other differences??

This McGwire is REALLY glossy, I can post a pic to show the gloss if anyone would be able to help me.

    LMK

    Thank you,
    Mike

If you have another 85 Topps you could really tell the difference.
Tiffanys are Really glossy and are a thinner stock than the nomral Topps...the back should have a Similar color, but noticably different tone due to the stock used

whoa, this card actually does feel a little thinner than a normal card.

I tried to get pictures of the gloss, I will post in a second.

    Thank you,
    Mike

    Ok.

I do actually have a Kirby Puckett Topps RC that is in my daughters collection, after comparing I think the McGwire still has more gloss and the back (green color) on the Kirby is lighter or brighter than the McGwire.

I will post comparison scans also.

    Thanks
    Mike

Here is a scan of the gloss on the McGwire.

Do you still want me to show both the Puckett and McGwire front and back next to each other?

From the looks of that it looks like a normal...the Tiffanys are VERY Glossy with Pretty much no "rough" Surface look topps normal sets had...I 1 89 Bowman(same as topps) Mel Stottlemyre JR and the Tiffany Version and just a quick look there is no question they are different...The backs are red, Dark red for Regular, and a Bright red for the Tiffany...also the Clairty of the picture is Better on Tiffanys

Ok thank you for your help.

I actually have 5 1987 Topps "Kmart" Complete sets (they say "Distributed by Topps Ireland") and those are REALLY glossy.

I do have a Fleer Glossy and regular Reggie Jackson from 87 Fleer so I can see the difference.

This McGwire must be in pretty good condition to be as glossy as it is.

Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it.

    Thanks
    Mike
