As a Jaguars fan, I can assure you that Maurice Drew is not going to be the next LaDainian Tomlinson, for the simple fact that he will never yield the workload that LT does. What makes Maurice Drew so good is that he doesn't have to get 20-25 carries a game, so his legs are always fresh. He's what is known as a "change of pace" back, and last year, probably had one of the best seasons ever in that role. Barring injury, Fred Taylor will still get more carries than him until he retires (which is at least 3 more years). After that, Greg Jones (or, perhaps, another running back acquired), will probably get the bulk of the carries. I still expect 800-1000 yard seasons with 10-15 TD's from Maurice in his current role, though.

Not even close...
Jay is exactly right...MJD will NEVER be a feature back (meaning 25-30 carries a game) so he'll have good stats...but not LT stats.

He won't be. He may be a really good back in this league if he's given more time to play. But, Fred Taylor and Greg Jones (goal line) are still in the mix...at least for this year.

Like I said I need to see what he does this year to decide. But so far I like what I see. In a year or two he may be given the work load and you never know what may happen then.

Fred Taylor will be the starting running back of the Jacksonville Jaguars for the next three years.

And by the way, get your stats correct. He started all 16 games in both 2002 and 2003, 14 in 2004, and 15 last year. I think his days as "Fragile Fred" are over.

If the Jags can get an O-line that can make holes for their RB's, then MJD could be one of the best in the game, but never get up to LT's numbers! Have you ever seen MJD pass?
Fred has a few more years left in the tank, and his numbers have been great considering the O-line the Jags have had over the last few years!
I'll be watching the game with Miami tonight. I just hope we come out of the game with no major injuries.
