Smile New Collector: Broke 2 Boxes of Topps A&G 07

    Hey everyone,

I walked into my local Card Shop today, wanting to start a collection. Little did I know that I was gonna' get bit by the bug. Upon opening my first two boxes I recieved what I believe to be pretty nice cards; who knows. Anyway, I plan on going back later this week when they get more in. Until then, I have a couple questions for you guys. What are the cards to watch for in the A&G set? Also, I was wondering if I could get a ballpark estimate on a couple of the cards I recieved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance; see you around the forums.

Mike Mussina Relic Card (Game Worn Jersey Piece)
Coco Crisp Relic Card (Bat Piece)
Jeremy Hermida (Topps Certified Autograph Card)

    * I've also gotten various Black Border Cards of the Mini Cards, as well as the Jack the Ripper Card.

To put a set of these together, you need to know which short prints to get your hands on. There are 50 SPs of the base 350 card set, and here is a link to the list. The sooner you get them, the better!

There are mini cards with no-number that went for 15 times base last year. So, keep your eye out for them!

Most of the relics cards are in the $8 - 10 range. If the Mussina is for trade, I'd be interested. Also would be interested in the Crisp.

Are there any Black Border Mini's which are not supposed to have a number? For example, I pulled two Black Border Mini's with no number (Scott Kazmir and Travis Hafner), would these be considered in that category? Thanks again for the help.

I believe the black border minis with no number were short printed to 50, so those are nice pulls...someone on here can confirm that, hopefully.

Last year basic no numbers were short printed to 50. I don't remember any black border cards having no number.

This year I pulled several regular no numbers & almost as many black border no numbers (three hobby boxes and around 8 blasters). I'm not sure if the black border no numbers only came out of the blaster boxes. Hmm...

I believe what I purchased were Hobby Boxes, atleast that's what I asked for. That's what the Minis with no number were pulled from.

I have a few quick questions about minis though. Is the entire Base Set run in mini size as well? I noticed that a variety of cards I pulled have matching standard size counterparts and are numbered similarly. Along with that, looking over the checklist that came in the box, I've noticed that there is a section for "Exclusive Mini Inserts". It would be my best guess to say that these are cards that are only run in Mini Size and have no Standard Size counterpart. If that is true, would it mean that these exclusive mini inserts are only run with black borders, or can I get them without the black border? Also, how long has the Topps A&G 07 set been out for? I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. Thanks again.

Yes, the basic set of 350 cards is paralleled in the mini-form. The exclusives are mini-only (no black border) & you can only pull them from a Rip-card, which are seeded one per case. I pulled Jeter #389 from a Frank Thomas Rip. Last years Jeter exclusive, or extended, books for $150. I can't imagine anyone putting a set of the extended minis together, as the common extended from last year booked for $50 each, and were numbered 351 - 375. This year they extended the extended set & there are 40 of them.

It looks as though Topps put out a regular mini no-number & a mini black border no-number. I'm curious if both are short printed to 50. If anyone knows, please advise!

    I hope this helps!

I just looked on Topps.com, and it appears that the no-number regular minis are SP to 50:

    Allen & Ginter No Number
Cards from the base set that do not show a number. Limited to 50!

I don't know about the Black Border minis, as they don't mention them.

When you say Mini Cards form the Base Set that don't have a number are limited to 50; do you mean limited to 50 in total? I didn't understand what the website meant in that sense. Or, do they mean limited to 50 per card?
