    Pack/Brand Suggestions

Hey guys, I wanted to broaden my horizons in the hobby and include basketball. I'm looking to start off with a few packs and then moves to boxes when i familiarize myself with the products. What are a few brands that are decent on a pack by pack basis and what are some good box suggestions.

I posted a similar thread in football if you can help me out.

    Thanks, Andy

Andy...it really comes down to what you are looking for out of the product and how much you are looking to spend...

Thanks for the response Tony I'm looking for packs that average $5-7 and boxes under $100.

Not looking for anything specific to start out, obviously GU/Autos but I think Prospects will be a key thing.

I like Topps Chrome. The cards are attractive(esp. refractors) and the pack/box price is in the range you are looking for. Many people(myself included) think UD products are overpriced and that Topps offers better value. If you want a chance(a miniscule one) at pulling a LeBron or Jordan auto you have to buy UD though.

    Good Box to Buy

I just opened a mini box of 06-07 Finest and enjoyed it. My local dealer said he just sold a regular box for $100 so that would be in your price range. The rookie autos are nice as well as the draft redemption cards for this year's rookies.

My favorite 06-07 product was Topps Turkey. I also enjoy some of the lower end UD products like Sweet Shot, Hardcourt, Ovation, Reflections, and Rookie Debut. Good luck with starting your new basketball collection!

    depends what you want

if you want to just collect RC's, i'd go with topps chrome/finest...although low end stuff is pretty hard to trade/sell. if you spend more on things like UD, it will cost you but you won't really have a problem when you want to move a card.

Go for upper deck products.high quality with a chance at a jordan or lebron. Also the redemptions can be done online. No topps product offer that, its such a pain having to mail in redemptions.
