    Does this annoy anyone else?

when someone posts that they have RC's FT/FS, and when you look, they are not RC's. I guess everyone assumes that because it says "rookie" on the card, that it is actually a rc. true, some are, but a lot of them are not. It is even more funny when they list these "rc's", and they have cards of the same player from 2 or even 3 different years, and list them all as "rc's".

I know i am not the perfect collector, and i'm not trying to make myself sound better than anyone else. but one thing i do pride myself on is knowing what year a players true rc is from. It just drives me nuts!

sorry for the rant. I just had to vent a little.

I do that, but my reasoning is this.....

IMO a RC is the first card made of a player, regardless of whether or not it has the "RC" logo on it. So I'll list those as RCs. And when it comes to the cards with the logo on it, I list them as RCs too, since most people consider them the true RCs.

Look at Mark McGwire's RC. His official RC is the Team USA one. But many cards have "Rated Rookie" or "Rookie" on them from a later year. His USA one is the most sought after of them all.

RC's in baseball just don't work the same way as in football/basketball. Some people might consider the prospect cards RC's, which they are. Others consider any card with the RC logo on it as a rookie, which they are. It just depends on the person.

Aside from cards, I'm of the philosophy that a player is a rookie until he breaks into the majors. You don't hear career minor leaguers being called 'veterans' when they finally get a call-up for the first time.

    To each his own though.

I can understand the confusion. There are draft pick cards and prospect cards and future star cards and now rookie designation cards. Plus the first card of a player from one brand may be a few years before another brand.

Not like in the old days.............

Something woprse than that, people who do not label their cards in photobucket. I see so many buckets wher ethe card names are a1, or gu5, it takes little to no extra time to add a quicke year brand and name of a player, especially with some of the junk scans and pics people use.
