    Good topic

    QB - John Elway
    RB - LaDainian Tomlinson
    FB - Lorenzo Neal
    WR#1 - Jerry Rice
    WR#2 - Terrell Owens
    TE - Tony Gonzalez
    K - Jason Elam

I believe each is the best player to play their position since ive been coherent enough to follow football...Elway is the best of all time at QB, LT soon will be, Neal blocked anything that moves, Rice is obvious, TO is probably the surprise of the list, one of the best physically gifted WRs ever, and one of the best ever when its said and done, Gonzo revolutionized the TE position, and Jason Elam is prob the best kicker ive ever seen

    Hmmmm....

    QB - Dan Marino
    RB - Barry Sanders
    FB - Lorenzo Neal
    WR#1 - Jerry Rice
    WR#2 - Chad Johnson
    TE - Tony Gonzalez
    K - Adam Vinatieri

Reasons....Marino is the best ever, IMO, to play the game at QB. Same goes with Sanders and Rice....I think Chad Johnson will end up being one of the best ever. I agree with Sean on Neal and Gonzalez, and Vinatieri is the clutchest kicker in NFL history. So there's my team.

    Offense

    QB - John Elway
    RB - LaDainian Tomlinson
    FB - Lorenzo Neal
    WR#1 - Jerry Rice
    WR#2 - Lynn Swann
    TE - Antonio Gates
    K - Adam Vinatieri

My reasons are as follows: John Elway was the greatest in the clutch and he won rings late in his career after having a series of upsets early on while filling big shoes. LT is not the greatest yet as that, IMO, belongs to Barry Sanders but... Barry has compared LT to himself only much more versatile. LT will, barring injury, finish as the greatest RB of all time and has already revolutionized the position. I agree with everyone else about LoNeal, he would mow over his own mother if it meant a few extra yards for his guy. Jerry Rice has the records and the rings, there is no contest there. I picked Lynn Swann because of his clutch catches in clutch situations. He was the go to guy when a TD catch was needed. I'm a bit biased in choosing Gates but... the guy doesn't drop many catches his way and IMO, will also be at the top at his position when it's all done; again, barring a major injury. Vinatieri is Mr. Consistant and if there is anything that can make or break a teams' chances of winning a ring, the kicker could be that guy. There are so many games won and lost buy not an arm or legs, but the foot of a kicker. He has done it 4 times and if Indy gets there again and the game is on the line, Vinatieri would be the guy I would put my money on.

    Offense

    QB John Unitas
    RB Jerome Bettis
    FB Daryl "Moose" Johnston
    WR#1 Steve Largent
    WR#2 Hines Ward
    TE John Mackey
    K George Blanda

now before some of you kids start snickering at my choice, please allow the old man to explain. John Unitas was one of the toughest SOB's to ever strap on a helmet. Brett Favre is practically a carbon copy of him. The Bus...well i'll admit, he's my favorite player, he wasn't the quickest or the biggest but he left everything on the field. Moose is a suped up version of Tom Rathman, better hands and better blocking, very rare type of dual threat you don't see anymore with FB's . Steve Largent in my opinion is what a class act WR should be....catch the ball, head back to the huddle, no prancing around like a fool. Ward....great hands and how often do you see a 200lb guy soaking wet level a 330lb+ defensive lineman with a crushing block on a run play? John Mackey was the prototype TE years ahead of his time, great hands, good speed, dependable blocker and a nasty streak in him....and kicker, George Blanda..many teams had to scheme their special teams around his ability to fake a kick and throw a bomb accurately, no kickers today can do that. Then again, no kickers today were all pro Qb's before becoming a kicker.

    QB Randall Cunningham
    RB Barry Sanders
    FB Lorenzo Neal
    WR#1 Lance Alworth
    WR#2 Jerry Rice
    TE Kellen Winslow
    K Garo Yepremian

Well, to explain to me it not always who is the best. As the best can be stated in broad terms. Example start with Randall Cunningham and you can look at this stats and say he never led his team to the promise land, he was not a passer but a runner. Well you know what that might be true but did you know that Randall Cunningham never had a PRO BOWLER on the offensive line of the ball. Name some other qb's like Elway, Marino, and Montana I bet they probably had a few during their tenure. Ijust know that one reason that Randall Ran and was a ultimate weapon as he could put so much pressure on the DEFENSE (ask opposing teams).

Barry Sanders first off was a team oriented player and he even bowed outof breaking records when the lions would want him to go in to break them. He would not and he always backed up Wayne F. which I thought stunk at a coach but Barry was Class act on the field and off the field. Since it my dream team I would play on Artificial Turf as no one could cut and turn as Barry did on TURF. So he would be bar none the best and I don't have a O line as we are picking the best so I want a guy that can create his own holes LOL.

Lance ALworth- Here is a guy that you need to look at. As stat's are not everything as you know back in the 60's they ran more than threw the ball. If I told you his qb was some guy HADL or something like that you wouldn't probably have a clue. You talk Rice you have Montana, Elway had the 3 amigo's, Marino had Clayton and Duper, etc. So those wr's has the luxury of a great qb unlike Largent and other's. Alworth was a all time speedster light weight that could stretch the field like no one business. With his world class sprinting ability and his ability to HURDLE players he would be ON FIRE if he was a rookie today. His stats are awesome for back in the 60's which was not a pass oriented game.

Lorenzo as others have said has that meaness to clear out a path and is a perfect teammate as he did his job flawlessly just to clear a path. You don't find that everyday so kudo's to him.

Jerry Rice had Montana but still Jerry was a physical gifted in that his tire less training and devotion to the game let him have a long career to break the records of all the wr's out there. So, having a guy like that is a no brainer as no matter who the qb is Jerry going to make him look good.

Kellen Winslow is to me one of the best pure catching players out there in the world. With Joiner, Fouts, himself and the others they made the Chargers one of the greatest aerial shows ever. Better than what people talk about when they always throw St. Louis into the mix. Dan was a passing freak unleshing yardage gained per season and one guy that made it possible was WINSLOW. So nothing against TONY but I will go with Kellen as to me they are both in the top 5.

Garo at kicker to me is a no brainer. As he had not training as a kicker as what was he a true FUTBOL player (soccer). This guy had no training leading up to the job and did not play college I do believe. Yet after his tenure he was voted Kicker of the Decade and also was a humanitarian beyond belief. People talk about Guys going into the service and Garo gave up a year of playing which cost him like 2 years in his football career which again shows he not about numbers but the team. His passion for the game was unparalleled as he truly did not understand what football was all about. Per his funny line made famous by JOHNNY CARSON as the story goes. They lost a game but he kicked a point and was running around with his arms up and a teammate I believe Alex Karros asked him in his barely english what he was so freaking happy about. the reply " I KEEKED A TOUCHDOWN' which Johnny used over and over at the expense of ole Garo.

So my team is not only the best but a lot of the guys give of themselves before they think of the numbers and that what playing is all about a team game not a I game.

    QB- Dan Marino
    RB- Walter Payton
    FB- Earl Campbell
    WR#1- Jerry Rice
    WR#2- Steve Largent
    TE- Dave Casper
    K- Adam Vinatieri

Marino is still the best passing QB so he gets the nod. In the backfield I'd have Sweetness and Campbell I know Earl wasn't a FB but I'd have a twoheaded monster that would cerainly scare the crap outta any and all defenses!

Rice and Largent for their hands with Hines ward right up. Casper at TE because he played the game while catching or blocking.
Mr SB kicker he has been nothing but clutch in the big show! Remember how everyone gives brady ALL the credit for those Pats SB wins but it was AV that won them. Had he missed no one would care about the Patriots kinda like the Bills of yesterday
