Random Sports Trivia #53
Since Bgray is busy for the moment, I will do a trivia question for all the folks here:
This is for 30 points:
please read carefully ---
NOT counting the 2003 baseball season, a pitcher has used only 9 pitches, all being strikes, to retire the side in order. This has been done 11 times in AL, and 24 times in NL. The very first time this happened was back in 1902, by Rude Waddell, of the A's.
NAME THE PITCHER, AND THE TEAM HE PLAYED FOR, WHO **MOST RECENTLY** ACCOMPLISHED THIS FEAT OF USING 9 PITCHES, ALL BEING STRIKES, TO RETIRE THE SIDE IN ORDER.

Nice question Pod... I was expecting the one you said in the Mod forum. I suppose the person who gets this is going to be a great guesser and not be able to find the answer on google or yahoo or whatever search engine you use.
Was the outcome of each at-bat a strikeout?

Iggy, I couldn't find confirmation on the Jose Offerman answer, so I didn't use it. I read the trivia a week ago, so can't remember all the criteria.
Thus, an alternate trivia.
Not many people online, so those who see this should have plenty of time to look for the answer.
I tried to make it so that you can't "googled" the answer, lol
