Will Greg Oden be a bust?
I think he will be. He's a 19 year old trapped in a 40 year old body. The guy looks old and is a chronicaly injured player. At best I think he'll be a 15 point 12 rebound guy. Might even be the next coming of Mutombo.

I heard so many comparisons to Duncan and he's the next great big man since Duncan. Oden was suppose to be a franchise player but I don't see that happening now.

His offesive game is non existent, however he did somewhat dominate the college game with one good hand defensively. My own personal opinion of Oden is he will come back healthy for a few years but he will need to mature emotionally to compete. I don't know if he will ever avg. 15 pts, but the 12 boards and 2-3 BPG will always be there as long as he is healthy. Can't fault Portland for drafting him though, if he never got hurt this conversation would never take place and we would still pick his cards up just like Durant's.

If he can get healthy, pack on some muscle, I think he has that streak in him that everyone wish Yao Ming had. Of course those are big ifs, he is young enough so coming back from that surgery is not unheard of(see Amare). IMO he will come back, may not be the next Russell but I would say a hair below Shaq

In my opinion he will be a bust and wont average over 10 pts a game. I think he will have similar stats as Ben Wallace. Gred Oden is best on the defensive end and on the boards, like Ben Wallace. The only thing making Oden better would be his ability to make a lay-up?

I think he'll be a solid contributer at about 12 and 12 when healthy. Just not the very dominating player everyone is making him out to be. The main concern is his health. He's had ongoing health problems since his college campaign and we have to consider that he hasn't faced the NBA speed, strain or schedule yet.

i don't think he'll be a bust...but the sad thing about his career is that even if he becomes a player worthy of all the hype-we'll never know how good he could have been before knee surgery

on a side note-I read something interesting today...apparently if Oden sits out this whole season he is eligible to win ROY the following season.
